- I wouldn't say she's the biggest philanthropist of all time, but the fact that she was willing to step off the throne and into the streets said a lot about her. Also, she would travel to hospitals and visit with AIDS patients, when AIDS was still a virtually unknown virus. She was hugging, kissing, and shaking hands with these people, something thought of as almost taboo yet startlingly moving. She was a strong, determined woman, and many feminists look up to her. She refused to listen to her husband and mother-in-law when they discouraged her philanthropist movements. They even made a Beanie Baby in her honor! She was one cool gal.
- I don't think that she really affected society as much as you think. I think that people admired her and her work. Especially for the charities that she did...Although, what Princess of Wales didn't? I think she is not the sweet innocent person that she was portrayed to be. I think she had her ways. I have read horror stories about how she fired members of her royal staff for crazy reasons. And feared that Charles had her telephone conversations tapped when they were married. And that the M16 or whatever it is called was spying on her. She did a lot of things that weren't royal like. She socialized with celebrities too much. That is one of the things that I did not come to like about her. Other than that, I think that she was a okay lady. She had a heart. Which most of the people in the House of Windsor do not seem to have. Especially that silly Queen. And when you ask questions like this you should search Yahoo Answers! Someone has already answered this same Question. This doesn't do anything but waste space on the computer for another question that may be more important than this...
- No impact. At ALL!
- Visit http://www.theworkcontinues.org to see some of the work Diana did. Diana was considered a breath of fresh air, much like the Queen Mother was;she was able to reach out to people and make then feel like she really cared. Diana chose to focus on helping those who were ill or injured. She was the first high profile royal to shake ungloved hands with an AIDS patient.Diana opened cancer wards and hospitals, often becoming quite involved with some of the patients. Unfortunately, her last great project has suffered because of her death.Diana was putting the spotlight on abandoned land mines;these explosive devices are buried in the ground, where people herd cattle,or children run around and play.Stepping on one can,in the least, cause loss of leg, arm, sight, hearing. Many people have died because of these forgotten weapons.Diana had just started the campaign to rid countries of these weapons. No one has been able to take her place and bring world attention to the cause. Diana may not have had the impact of a president or monarch of long standing, but she did touch many lives.
